Japanese Noren Happiness & Fortune
Japanese noren to attract happiness and fortune
On this Japanese noren, the characters form a yojijukugo, a Japanese expression made out of four kanji. This expression refers to the proverb 笑う門に福来たる which literally means “Happiness comes to those who smile at their door”. With its design depicting two smiling Maneki Neko, this noren illustrates the idea that happiness and good fortune favor those who are optimistic, cheerful and welcoming.
